Car washes have been around for decades allowing most vehicles to be cleaned to a degree without relying on a hand wash. Although, hand washes offer better value in the long run than a car wash does as they remove dirt and grime that will later embed itself into your paint causing premature failure. However, it’s still an option among many for varying reasons whether you needed a quick rinse on the way home from work or after driving through a puddle until you could get to a detail shop
In a recent article provided by CNN Tech, it seems as if autonomous cars are a ways away from entering into any car wash and require 100% hand washing. This is in part due to all the sensors they are equipped with that may get damaged during the process and costing thousands of dollars in repairs. This isn’t to say someone wouldn’t try to enter a car wash autonomously and have an epic fail when doing so.
